The legend of O.B.V. Everything you want to know and everything you don't want to know about o.b.v.
WHO WE AREOur Beautiful Voices (O.B.V.) is a podcast created by Alex Marx and Will Amari. The conversations we recorded are centered around our fellow student's passions, the SLA community, and student awareness. We zero in on exclusively SLA students who represent a microcosm of our city. SLA students come from all walks of life with varied interests. This is a show about millennials, for millennials, made by millennials. Subjects range from sports to politics to social injustice to the arts. It is important that the voices of our SLA millennials are heard because we are progressives who are soon to become adults. Their beautiful voices need to be heard.
OUR BEAUTIFUL HISTORY The idea to create a podcast was sparked in the late spring of our Junior Year at SLA. Alex and I presented a project together for American history class. As it so happened, we were both tired of school and felt unprepared to present. Regardless, we went for it. Although most of what we said and discussed during the presentation was improvised, for some reason the presentation clicked and the class seemed to really enjoy the project as a whole. We ended up earning an "A", and realized that our mixture of wit and knowledge helped to create a great project. I recall someone saying that we had ‘very good chemistry together’, and that they ‘could imagine us creating a podcast.’ Later that day Alex mentioned it as a good idea for our Senior Capstone. So that class presentation became the germ for this podcast.
At the beginning of senior year, Alex and I decided to collaborate and Our Beautiful Voices was born.
THE EVOLUTION We both knew we wanted to do something fun and original—something to give back to SLA—thanking our school for our wonderful four years of education. Our Beautiful Voices became the perfect way for two aspiring journalists to strengthen our journalism skills. Currently, Alex and I are both interested in perusing Journalism. Writing and communications would indeed be our passion. That's exactly why we wanted to make this podcast as unique and as clever as possible.
Therefore, our conversations will be more than just your typical question answer, question answer. Instead we engage with our subjects with high-brow conversation meant to stimulate the mind and entertain our audience. In other words, it is more than just an excuse for Alex and I to hang out every Wednesday after school. We want to involve the community and enlighten SLA and beyond SLA with the ideas of different students of every grade, race, and gender. Each episode is on a different topic that will present different opinions. All the while you get to hear Our Beautiful Voices.
SPECIAL THANKS O.B.V. couldn’t be made without the help of our Executive Producer and the founder of Rough Cut Productions, Mr. Douglas Herman and of course to listeners like you. Thank you for offering your support and remember, as always, stay beautiful.
